W Texas | A lot depends on what stage it is cut in. With headed out wheat with grain at milk or beyond, you really want to be gentle with the crop and I wouldn't condition it at all. Obviously, this isn't a good option for bearded varieties, so you will probably want to cut earlier than that.
I strongly prefer roller conditioners to impellers. I think the impellers mostly succeed in tearing a crop into pieces too small to subsequently get in a windrow or bale. But I'm an alfalfa guy and no alfalfa guy is ever going to admit they own an impeller conditioner. | |
