North Liberty and South Bend, Indiana
Two buddies and I placed bets on how long a out of town farmer would last in their area, south of me 50 miles. One of those deals where an investment group buys land and they have several tennant farmers. First year the out of towner's farmed the 200 acres of investment firm then went on a bidding spree for anything close by. Gobbled up a bunch of ground at stupid high rents for 5 years on most of it. First year was a fluke and their area had really good corn and fantastic soybeans. 2nd-6th years were average or a good ways below. 7th year out of towners were gone and two years ago they have 3 auctions, all of their corporations folded. They were known to have said the locals had no idea how to farm. I missed the winning bet by 2 years...
