doesnt matter if theres no feed to feed the cows. between the wet weather and the cold, there is basically no hay crop coming into a year where the reserves are gone. Newly seeded hay will produce half of established stands. So, the cows will be worthless but the calves will be gold. Hay is already pushing 200/ton. Not much sense in calving cows when you can simply sell the hay. But i was on the edge of selling last year, so i probably wasnt in for long term anymore anyway. What we will have when the weather breaks is mud. lots of mud. any pasture you let the cows on will be ruined for probably most of the year.


Give it a couple weeks. Hopefully we see some sun.
