I also gave up on a lot of things. I accepted that above $3.60 is a decent corn price, planting corn after May 1 isn’t going to ruin things, I accepted planting short season corn, I accepted that calving now isn’t worth the stress. Basically maximums are unrealistic and the stress that comes with achieving that isn’t worth it. I love this job, but not enough to sacrifice my mental and physical health for it due to stress. I’ll do something different if I’ve got to spend half the year hating life. It’s like the farmers serenity prayer “lord help me to accept that some periods suck.”
