“On December 31, 2019, Verizon plans to retire its CDMA-only network (1x/EVDO, 2G/3G), and we will stop activating new CDMA-only devices after June 30, 2018. But we will continue supporting the following account services through July 1, 2019: Device ID Change, MDN Change, Price Plan Change, Suspend and Resume, and Reactivate MDN.
My concern surrounds tower issues. If a tower has faulty equipment, do I foresee the carrier investing in replacing the soon to be expired 3G technology. No, I do not. This is MY opinion and not the carriers. That said, we still have a few thousand 3G devices on our account. Many of these will not be upgrading to 4G/SIM equipment until after planting season. The DCM300 seems to be a solid performer, so I hope your local towers continue providing good connectivity all year.”
