Subject: Cow drying up

So we had a cow calve over the weekend and calf isnt taking off and is sick and not doing well so we have been milking the cow out every night. my question is how often do we need to milk her out to keep her from drying up? we have just been milking her in the evenings and been getting 5 to 6 pints and then we just split that between morning and evening for the calf and use milk replacer the rest of time. we have been tubing him which is the reason for milking. now tonight i only got 2 1/2 pints out of her. so is she drying up from not being milked enough or is she not letting it all down? not a experienced milker so dont know what all im getting into. do i need to milk her morning and night or if i manage to get the calf turned around and back to nursing her will she start producing more milk?
