As of right now we are just testing things out, so yes we are using the tractor hydraulics to run the splitter. The wedge itself just drops in a slot,but in the future I may add a small ram on the bottom to raise and lower the wedge when I want to. The splitter ram is off a 325 Cat excavator, I believe its 6" bore, so its got some push to it even when running off the tractor at idle. When finished I will have a PTO pump to supply the entire outfit, as the tractor hydraulics don't have enough flow to get decent cycle times. I'd appreciate any pictures of your 6 way splitter if you have some to share.
