Subject: RE: Wood splitter wedge design?

Near-north Ontario, French River
The original wedge, was designed to first split things vertically into 2 pieces, then 3 horizontal ( staggered in depth) were supposed to split 4 ways.. for a total of 8 pieces. BUT I managed to screw up the geometry, the bottom pieces cleared but then second ( from the bottom ) became severely pinched , the 3rd fit through but still pinched some. I allowed some front to back clearance but messed up on the beveling of the splitting edges .... Cut the bottom wing off this morning and things went much better but now my pieces are quite a bit bigger than I'd. In the pic, ignore the "u" shaped thin gauge material, that part of the 'hopper' off the back side of the splitter, not part of the actual wedge.
