If buying new, get the extended warranty if it has electronics. I got a 5 yr warranty on my wife's. Somethings they can walk you through over the phone. Sometimes its a squeak or centering of the belt. Go to a store that offers service, then watch Craigslist for their brand! Better grease your buddies palms, can be heavy to move.
