I've used this CRC dielectric product on battery connections for years. If it's wrong to use it, that's news to me. 

The only downside I see to dielectrics & many other "grease" type products for batteries is that it collects dirt & junk due to it's sticky nature. I realize this is better than the alternative.

When bolting starters to the faceplate of bellhousings on tractors I also put a thin coat of dielectric to try & keep corrosion from hindering the grounding between the starter & bellhousing. So far, nothing bad has happened from doing that.
