Subject: RE: Wheat straw

Southern Indiana
We always considered corn stalks to be superior to wheat straw for bedding in the dairy barn. The reason horse people don't like oat straw is because the horses eat half of it. Rye straw brings a premium at the race track where old bedding gets put in the dumpster, but is shunned at the horse farm where it may have to go through a spreader where it wraps around the beaters.
