Not a dairy farmer; what's wrong with pressure washers?
Nobody's really quite sure. I think it has something to do with you attaching a pump to the plumbing system that could potentially back-feed contaminated water. I've asked about those vacuum breakers. Our regular inspectors have told me that the presence/absence of that little device won't placate the feds. They will still dock for a pressure washer on the premises.
Every inspector gets their sights zoned in on something specific. This is an observation of the state guys and gals, but it's mostly because I see them more often. One inspector couldn't stand it if the parlor to milkroom door was open during milking. The next inspector couldn't care less. He, however, was really touchy about any milk jugs in the milk room. We used them for home use, but he was really concerned we were selling raw milk. The next inspector has never mentioned them.
