| This one got sewed up a couple weeks ago and didn’t bust the stitches, lucky I caught her. Normal size calf. Other one busted the stitches and had a 100lb calf (dead and heavy calf for my place) that percentage of prolapses is weird, have one left to calve with stitches.
I started and finished heifer calving during the cold spell we had last week, buddies that calve heifers for a living didn’t take it as well as me (had ONE piggy heifer kicked out with cows haha ). Been one heck of a calving season here, we went from blizzard warnings to flooding. Sent a load of feeders to the yard last week (dodge city) talking to the mgr when I picked the check up he said he wished it would quit raining for the rest of the year, it’s a freaking mess. The last 12 hours has been rain, got stuck in the shop this morning because of a hail storm. Just hope it don’t turn dry, I can deal with all the BS but dealing with drought is a b*tch. | |
