There are 2 styles on pins for those connectors that use two different styles of contact. The solid style contacts uses the hdt-48-00 crimp tool and is the most reliable crimp I have found, the stamped & formed style contacts uses a crimp tool that is similar to weather-pack. It is basically impossible to pull the wires out of a properly crimped solid contact and it so simple to get a proper crimp; with the hdt-48-00 crimp tool you set proper exposure on bottom with the green knob (size 16 pins and sockets that are used in the DT series connectors use the same settings so you hardly ever adjust it), select wire size, insert wire and contact, and crimp (tool will not release until proper crimp depth).
Ladd Inc is the US distributor of Deutsch connectors. You can use their interactive product finder to locate the connector. They do not sell retail so you will have to find a retailer. Waytek carries a knock off brand that interchanges with the Deutsch and the part numbers are similar (AT06-2S vs DT06-2S). The S connectors use sockets and the P connector uses the pins (DT06-2s mates with DT04-2P). You can order samples from Ladd Inc but are limited to 15 items and no duplicates. The removal tool is handy, but not necessary (Ladd will send them as a sample).
