Well, if you're talking close to 100 cows, and the employee is handling chores on their own, I would think it would be expensive. That's not $26/hr, it's $20. 40 hrs and 20 hrs over time. I'm thinking you are describing somebody that's a herdsman. I had a part time high schooler that would milk 2 milkings a week. I milked 19 milkings by myself and did my own fieldwork. Around here, you can make $20/hr around town and get benefits. I said if you are offering benefits and part ownership, the pay will be less. So what's benefits Worth? If you are willing to commute 45 minutes, you can make over $30/hr working union construction or at a refinery. Company truck drivers can make $70k. So, do like every other dairy Farmer and just hire immigrants, or MILK YOUR OWN COWS! The dairy industry would be in better shape if everybody milked their own cows.
