| This past winter, pretty mild in this chaparral climate a dairyman planted sudan for his horses. To each their own. So besides the four acres he put a border around an alfalfa field we lease from their property. Catch the spare water why not.
Well we noticed the rabbits didn't devour the alfalfa along the border except by the rock pile and a significant reduction in gophers. The field is surrounded by hills and every year we are overridden with gophers to the point we must flood irrigate to help. This year the gophers are manageable.
My plan is to surround my home garden with sorghum partially cause of the increased toxicity with stress to discourage the little hellions of squirrels and rabbits as I try to control them. I'm wondering has anyone else here played with sudan as a border to deter rodents?
Really hoping there's something to this and not just coincidence and lazy Californian rodents. I have squirrels that won't climb a fence when dogs are biting at their tail.
Thank y'all for any input | |
