This comment makes me a fan of the idea (running them home). I've decided there is nothing like trying to pen cows only held in by a single wire. Once they get mad with you it's like shooting a can of exploding worms with a BB gun. Maybe your cattle act differently. But if you can walk them back home without having to pen somewhere with nothing to work with, not even perimeter, I like the idea.
Is a wire a "legal fence" if they get out and hit a car and kill someone? Maybe an important question.
Another idea, good or bad??
