They aren't worth that much in all areas. Also people making $100k on the farm are not some idiot off the street. I assume they would be competent enough to handle the farm if the owner steps away. I farm with my family. I am able to get away for a vacation and not ever call home to check in. If I was farming alone, I would not leave unless I had someone I could trust to handle the farm. It's people like that who deserve the big pay. Someone who has to be babysat isnt even worth $10/hr. In fact they are usually costing money and should be let go.
