I'm guessing there is a wide variation in this thread on how people are envisioning NH3 being applied and also what rates.

Me putting 250# of actual N (305# of NH3) down with the strip till rig 8" deep and then planting on top of it means I have already decided I'm going to switch to liquid. No way I'll get dried out enough so that the NH3 slot seals well and even if it does, no way I'll have 2 weeks between that event and planting.

Someone else applying the same 250# 15" away from where the row will be and then disking it after? Sure, next day would be fine I bet. All kinds of other methods in between. Every one and every soil type would have a different right answer.
