South Central Illinois
Moisture is key, depth is also important,
If it is wet and it rains soon, as in that night, planting the same day is ok,
If it is dry, and it does not rain in 2 weeks, it is best to wait 2 weeks,
With our fine textured soil, I have never noticed NH3 killing a corn plant.
Waiting 3 days to plant is the usual salesman advice,
At least in our area.

Dry enough to plant before it is dry enough to gas?
I have never seen that,
We apply NH3 hoping to open up the soil to start drying,
Works for us.
