Deep southern Illinois | We dump hot into 2 36’ bins, and transfer from those into 2 more. From the time the corn gets a foot deep, until at least 7 days after the dryer is shut down, don’t turn the fan off unless it’s a thunderstorm. Fines tend to be our major problem. A layer of bees wings will make a hot spot from restricted air flow. Best remedy for us has been to keep the top lid area as open as possible, and an electric spreader to agitate things going in. The fan will blow a lot of it out and between the fan and spreader, what doesn’t blow out will be more evenly distributed. Doing the same with the wet bin also helps. A 16hp centrifugal fan improves this process. | |
