Subject: RE: berkshire hogs

redoak - 3/9/2019 19:49 2 guys around here had them , biggest issue is having a premium mkt. for anything over a few and then money collection was an issue...both guys have since left that mkt...........fwiw our pork bd. has served Berkshire & commercial pork side by side at meals and not told anyone which was which until the end .....preferences fell each way,,,there can be more differences between pigs and how they are raised/fed than between breeds...kinda like marketing NGMO grains or organis, sell the hype

There is a huge difference between 2 pigs out of the same litter, fed the same feed in the same finishing building but 1 goes to a commercial packing house and the other goes to the local locker.

If the major packing companies didn't want to sell water (aka "pumped meat") we'd (pork producers) be a lot better off.
