Central Illinois | if you want good feed for feeder calves regardless if you pasture or hay it, it needs some legumes in the stand. So the first nickel you spend should be on the soil tests. Once you get the results, you can plan your strategy from there whether it is just improving the existing stand or starting fresh with a new seeding as there are more than one way to "skin that cat". In the meantime, your idea for the oats or the other suggestions would give you some increased tonnage in the near term. | |
