1) What kind of grass do you have in it now? 2) Have you considered spraying it with something like 2,4-D and/or Banvel in the spring to kill the existing weeds? When you do this, you might find that you have less grass in there than you realize. Which brings me to 3)....... 3) Consider killing it down, and starting over with a whole new seeding. 4) You could take off 1st cutting, and then drill in something like sorghum-sudangrass, or maybe a millet, to get more yield in summer. However, you still probably need to address the weeds in the first cutting. Which brings me back to 2)......... BTW, I agree with soil testing this spring, if you have not soil tested recently. You might find the soil fertility is run down, which is why it is not yielding well, and you are losing your grass stand. |
