swohio | Today finished harvest, ground froze good enough, only a very small amount of snow left, some wind last few days and beans that were 15%, then 14%, and the final ones were 13%. I never had 13% beans period this year. There was some flat, but most were standing great. With all the rain we've had, throw in some very wet snow, high wind, I figured they were toast. Great looking beans with 56-57 lb test weight. Finished corn Monday, did have a fair amount blown over with some root lodging, was able to get most, hate to see corn laying on the ground, but not near what it could have been, corn around 17.5%. There is still beans out here and know of one farm with corn. Losing my Mom in May last year, just didn't realize how much something like that can put you behind. I'm sure she and my Dad were very happy today to see me get done. Now have to whip into spring mode, after what happened in Alabama Sunday, I'm just thankful I can look forward without much issue. | |
