A cold, snotty spring can take a soil (usually light) with high Mag readings and make the corn plant deficient. That is where the term "Grass Tetney (?)" comes from. Those conditions with grass hay often leads Livestock producers to problems in the early spring because the Mag in the soils doesn't become available soon enough.
