South Central MN | As mentioned by a couple others noticed the stump and trunk as well.
Even with proper cutting technique a tree can still recoil back, but might have went more predictable and with enough time to leave the danger zone. Never too late to realize if you made a mistake, as long as you are around to learn from it.
In logging a lot of the notches will be cut from the stump portion instead of upper, but might be a little harder to do. Reason for that is a full sellable log, if you are just trying to get it out of the way or cut it up for firewood won't be much of a concern to do it as pictured. | |
