Southwest OK | I don’t think so. I’d say most folks that calve in the cold are more concerned about the welfare of their animals (on an individual basis) than those of us that calve later.
I switched for purely economic reasons.
Reduced feed, labor, capital investment.
The improved weaning percentage, weaning weight ( when adjusted to 205 days) higher percentage born in the first cycle, are all unexpected bonuses.
Those that are concerned about a calf being born in heat and humidity, they just came out of 101.5 degree cow with 100% humidity.
