central kansas reno county | Well we made it back home after our family trip to mobile alabama to get on a cruise ship. Round trip we drove just a touch over 2100 miles. That's along days trip for sure. Going down we went south to Gainesville Texas then headed east and came out at Tyler and got on I 20. All I have to say is wow, never seen so much traffic on a hwy ever. We drove on 20 all the way to Jackson Mississippi and it never seemed to loose any of the traffic. Stayed in Jackson that night and got up and drove on in to mobile the next day. Went to Hattiesburg then stayed on 49 and went south towards Biloxi. When we left we knew there was gonna be a problem. The fog had set in and the port was closed. We was supposed to get on the ship by 1 pm, but with the fog in so bad the ship didn't even dock till 5 pm. So we did just a little sight seeing. We drove through the tunnel and also toured the USS Alabama. That was neat and the kids really liked it too.
We missed our first port at progreso, so we got to spend an extra afternoon in cozumel. Had a good time and made it home safely. |
