Northwest Iowa | I never had an issue with the local stores but when we were on vacation in Florida and went to a dinner theatre, they had pork rib on the menu. I couldn't eat mine because it smelled like boar. Nobody else noticed but I've been around it my whole life. When I worked at the packing plant, we tried to sort off all boars. You'd miss one once in a while. The USDA vet told me once though that you'd be surprised how many carcasses had an undescended nut inside the body cavity. Could be the issue. When I worked at the hog management company, one of the packers we worked with said, most of the boars that came in at their plant, went right on through. Puts a bad mark on pork sales. | |
