I had the same thought, so I looked. Part number for the steering control module is the same between both systems. I think the difference I was thinking of was early on the controller didn't have 'terrain compensation'. I believe this was before the 750 came out. It may be that the old control module, without terrain compensation, isn't compatible with an FM750/FM1000.
