Subject: Grandfather clock

North East Wimmera district of Victoria.

G'day!

Our Historical group has been given a Grandfather clock - no shorty, it stands 8'4" tall.

Has not run for who knows how long, but when the pendulum is swung, it will go for 10 - 15 minutes. After maybe 6 or 8 minutes the 'tick' gets longer than the 'tock' [you know what i mean!] and it eventually stops. Logic tells me it needs a good clean and oil!

What would you guys/gals clean the mechanism with?

Oh  - it chimes on the hour, not sure about half hourly or quarterly, but it is just one note -  no melodic chime.  [We had a mantel clock as a kid, with "Westminster" chimes].
