You could take use zinc phosphate as your primer. It's used in aviation all the time as a corrosion preventer. Would not be cheap though.

I probably wouldn't use slip plate. It works great in on non corrosive materials but it will scrape off kinda quickly with fertilizer.

You might ask case what they used from the factory. I'm willing to bet it was a 2 part epoxy paint as well but may not hurt to ask
