NE Kent County, MI | With a cover crop interseeded in last years corn I am going back to corn again in 2019. If I seed a cover crop and take a cutting off then I can go corn basically continuous which I’m not planning to do.
My current plan is to plant corn in 19 and then in 20 plant a diverse cover crop on 2nd year corn acres and let it grow all year to boost biology and diversity and produce Nitrogen and then go back to corn in 21 with an interseeded cover followed by corn in 22 then diverse cover again in 23 and repeat.
My goal is to spread workload out as I transition acres and keep things simple as possible.
Only question mark I have is on diverse cover years if I will need to take a cutting off before I plow it down.
Will need to check again. Certifier is GOA. | |
