Subject: RE: trading off a low mileage vehicle with extened warranty

Southeast Colorado
We bought one on our first new pickup in 2007. I think we gave in when they finally got down to $1700 for it and I was pretty mad at myself. We didn't go with what their normal 5 year 100k mile deal but had them change it to a 7 year 70k mile warranty. We did however get to use it right before it expired to the tune of about $2000. It was actually GMs warranty and not an after market company. Even then the warranty folks really squawked when they had to pay, but our dealer went to bat for us. The warranty people said we must have abused the pickup and tried to get out of paying. Finally they sent their own adjuster to inspect the pickup............it is my wife's super clean 40k mile go to town rig..........LOL! All we did was change the leaking power steering and transmission lines along with the electric mirrors that occasionally gave us a little trouble adjusting. Never again will I buy the extended warranty. And I had no idea anyone paid $5k+ for one..........sorry I razzed you.
