Colorado and Oz | There are pathways... tall fibre varieties and short oilseed types. The fibre can be used in clothing but the real value is that it produces a very excellent fibre that is coveted by all carbon composite manufacturers... like plane bodies and wings and other places composites are gaining advantages.
One company that started off looking for alternate markets for flax fibre and ended up with a leading position in Hemp is Biosunn http://biosunn.com/ . They have a plant and a plan that is well advanced for North Dakota. My understanding is the 100,000 acres of production enabled by the 2018 FarmBill will flow to their first plant.
