Southern NJ | As crazy as it sounds it is a normal practice in these areas. Depending on the storm, sands from one beach will get deposited at another beach or washed offshore. Sometimes there will be a dredge pumping it back onshore or they simply truck it back. The sands are constantly moving and since the economy of these towns and real estate built in these areas is significant they spend a lot of tax money to put beaches back after significant noreasters or hurricanes. I'm not familiar with this particular project so I'm speaking in regards to the NJ beaches. | |
