I gave it a shot this year. Didn't pay, but I like the concept for me. You're insuring a percent (I'm at 95%) of your margin which is the bushels x price less a "basket" of expenses. I can't remember or speak to that calculation but your crop insurance agent should be able to. The big thing is it is based against the county average production. For us, we have outproduced the county every year but 1 since adding MPCI. Good track record to pay in for some extra protection. I carry it in addition to RP insurance at the 85% level, there's a credit to the cost for carrying both.
