Subject: N14 red top dieing

Nwmo
My brother has a 98 Pete with an N14 Redtop in it. A little after fall it started dieing while idling or moving through the grain line. A couple of times it's started sputtering as I speed up to cross an intersection. It doesn't just cut off it will sputter and Rev up and down. It died on me yesterday and I tried restarting it and it wouldn't fire, so I turned the key off then back on and it started right up, it has a separate push button starter switch.

He's changed the lift pump, filters, and cleaned the fuel tank, put new injectors in it and I think had at least one of the heads replaced.

I'm thinking it's a fuel problem, my next guess was to look at the fuel shutoff solenoid or the wiring going to it. The local shops are content to swap parts until the problem goes away and me being the guy that gets to baby a dieing truck across four lanes of intersection am not to crazy about that idea, plus I think he has 8k in shop bills wrapped up in trying to figure out what is going on.

Any ideas or experience with this problem?
