8970 is electronically controlled,, it should not lope ,,at any speed,,, if it does it is either the EFC (3000 bucks) or ECM (7000 bucks) needs to be replaced they will go 20000 hours plus,,,,, if not neglected,,,,very good tractor except for the expensive electronic controls
