Jesup, IA | Or, grow something the market will pay a premium for? Rather than produce something and then hope the market wants to give you a price better than the cost of production.
Currently, most grain is commoditized. You grow it, then dump it at an elevator or end user with everybody else's crop. I sell a lot of #1 Yellow Corn at #2 Price.
Now, what if you grew that crop in a way, or grew the exact crop an end user wanted? And delivered straight from your farm? It likely would have a premium value.
I may be speaking a bit out of school, but what if the current act of Indigo Marketplace is the dress rehearsal for the real show?
