Subject: RE: Too much gluten

West Central Indiana
Currently feeding equal parts hay and corn silage with half that much wet gluten. (Example 1400 hay 1400 silage 700 gluten). Also feeding Kent co-product balancer mineral .25lb per head per day. It’s important to feed either a balancer or calcium when feeding gluten. I’m currently mixing in a vertical mixer, in the past I’ve mixed the silage and gluten with a loader and feed free choice along with free choice hay. Some guys in our group are using corn stalks instead of hay or schucklage instead of silage but as a group we are feeding over 500 cows using this type of ration with good results.
