North Central Kentucky | Cedar is ok, best we have locally. However, there can be a lot of variation in quality of post. Generally, the poorer the ground and denser the trees in the growing area (slower growing), the better the post. Posts that have a large area of red with a small ring of white around the outside will be fine. Posts with speckles of white in the red or a large ring of white around a small red center do not work well. A good red post can outlast the wire. A bad one can need replacing in 8 or so years. | |
