Subject: RE: Sandblasting Questions

Western Iowa
It is hard work, but can pay pretty well. It isn't bad, frankly I have done a lot harder work over the years.

Big thing is set up right from the beginning. You can sandblast just fine with a 100cfm compressor, but is about 4x faster with a 200cfm, and so on..... Bigger is better. Get a nice pot, get a good hood, add air conditioning and breathable air filter. Learn how different sands work, even if it means doing some of your own work and just buying a couple bags of each. Also learn how to handle the hose, as to not warp stuff. Bigger air actually helps with this, as you don't sit on one spot very long at all. Thin steel is kinda like painting, lots of thin 'coats' of sand, don't sit in one spot.

Sandblasting and priming and painting go hand in hand. You will get work sandblasting, but get a lot more if you can at least prime up what you blast. More yet if you can run a paint gun decent...….
