scmn | Used to be like that here where the inspectors would not pass them if a light was burnt out. Several larger companies in the area got sick of needing multiple inspections to pass because inspector was being nit picky (they charged for every inspection and then wanted to charge a bunch to fix it) and got certified for self inspection and quit using the traditional inspectors. Inspectors caught on real quick when guys were talking in the coffee shop about how they saved a lot by not having to fix the nuisance items that the inspectors wanted fixed, but would not get your truck placed out of service; they realized the inspection money was easy money and loosing the inspection money and loosing future repair business was not worth loosing the customer. Now they list the items that should be repaired/replaced but still pass inspection. | |
