When torquing the head after the second angle I had final torque values anywhere from 250 or so to a little over 300.
When you "torque-turn" bolts, you don't measure how much torque it takes to get the bolt to its final resting place. You won't find a spec for that, nor does it even matter. The initial torque is to seat the bolt, and the turn is to stretch the bolt, much like a rubber band. This stretched bolt is what keeps the head gasket under constant compression so that the head gasket doesn't leak when the engine is cold. |
