I would not even think about that little engine in a full size pickup. Less than 4% of the GM pickups are sold with it.
Many dealers in farm country, maybe 1%. A city landlord pickup.
I had a V-6 GMC 1500 extended cab back in around 1990. So I understand.
I have a 91 C1500 4.3L 5spd 2wd with 3.42 gears, and it has pulled balers and flail choppers and what ever else I could pull with it. The only thing that concerned me was suspension and braking, and not if the 4.3L could hack it.
30 foot camper 80 mph? Nope. but they are far from useless.
Also, I dont think the 160 hp TBI 4.3L is much of a comparison to what the OP is looking at.
