02 with the 4.3 we have is fine for running about. It’s a regular cab long box and does 19-21 on the highway in the summer. Folks have had 3-4 four door short boxes from the first year on the new body style in 2014? They average 20-22 even on short trips in the summer and driving a little faster (75vs65) Haven’t had any problems with the new ones, just not something I would pull much with.
I had an 11’ with the old cast iron 4.3 and it was ok but it didn’t seem as peppy as this newer all aluminum block. I wondered if they were trying to be in the ecoboost territory with performance. He’s going to drive to work just under an hour and needs 4wd and good mileage. Has to be able to go when he gets called. He looked at the Colorado’s but this is a better deal. |
