Make sure it is unplugged when you start it. Tiny air bubbles within the block getting stirred up and touching the hot element will burn them out. Adapt a shop vac to the radiator fill and change it then Will still lose a little but not to much.
This^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^. For whatever reason, if you regularly start your diesel engine with your block heater still plugged in, the element won't last long. I like to unplug the block heater, than check engine oil, etc. Then go ahead and start it. |
