personally I cant see how combining wet corn and paying to run it through a dryer is at all profitable, except if you were paying the elevator to do the same.

You need to get out more! Once in my farming career have I ever combined corn and put it directly in the bin and even that was borderline. Here if you can get in the low 20’s that’s doing good. I’ve ran corn in the 30’s before.


Im just saying how different areas have different issues. Some guys cant see how bags are a better deal, I cant see how running every bushel through a dryer is profitable. Here combining 15% corn is not a problem 99.5% of the time, weve combined 13% corn at times. So bags are a great option for us. 

Nobody has a dryer here, at most its older bins with stirrators and a burner on it. Heck the guys who combine "wet" corn for feed don't start until its about 25% or so.
